This is a collection of recipes passed down by the Houghton sisters ~
Barbara, Dorcas & Frances.


An idea that became a reality when family bonded together to gather recipes from the past. I would like to thank everyone for their submissions. Many a memory we have from these tasty treats and hopefully by putting them all together ~
many more can be made.

Raisin Rice Pudding


Raisin Rice Pudding


3 cups milk

½ cup uncooked real rice

½ tsp salt

½ cup light or dark raisons

½ cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

combine milk, rice and salt, heat slowly to boiling

[ can use a double boiler ]

turn into a greased 1 ½ quart baking dish

bake in 300 oven for 45 minutes - stirring 3-4 times

Rinse and drain raisons ,then stir raisons, sugar and vanilla into rice and bake 15 minutes

serves 6
